Abstract (ukr):
Abstract (eng):
Partnerships in Ukraine had a long history. The first of them arose in the 15th century and were related to tax collection. In addition, merchant partnerships have existed for a long time – the simplest associations of people and capital, which were created to reduce risks during trade trips. Such partnerships also spread in Zaporozhian Sich, which was not only a military organization, but also a significant trade center. In addition to financial and merchant partnerships, they were also created for the construction and operation of mills, mines and other simple proto-industry enterprises. Peasant partnerships are also known. However, in general, the Ukrainian partnerships of that time did not become a force that stimulated the development of the economy and the birth of capitalism. The reasons for this were related to both economic geography (lack of access to the seas, and therefore long-distance trade, which required large investments), and institutional inhibiting factors – low trust between entrepreneurs, weak protection of property rights, insufficient development of the legal system.
