Abstract (ukr):
Abstract (eng):
The article is dedicated to the development and justification of optimal technical and logistical parameters for transporting monolithic blocks of natural stone (granite, gabbro, labradorite) with a mass of 15–30 tons over the first leg of the logistical chain – from the quarry face to a hard-surface road or directly to the stone processing plant (unpaved roads 2–3 km long) under Ukrainian off-season conditions (spring and autumn mud seasons / impassability).
The relevance is driven by the high share of transportation costs in the prime cost of block quarrying (35–50 %), the isolation of quarries in Zhytomyr and Rivne regions, seasonal degradation of loamy-clay soils, strict axle load regulations (single axle – up to 11 t, tandem axle – up to 16 t, tridem axle – up to 22 t; total gross vehicle weight – up to 40 t), as well as risks of equipment wear and road surface damage.
The specific characteristics of the cargo are analyzed: high density (2,6–2,8 t/m³), fixed center of gravity, low coefficient of friction «stone–steel», and asymmetrical geometry.
The main transportation solutions are compared: all-wheel-drive dump trucks KrAZ-65032 (6×6, payload 15–18 t), articulated dump trucks (ADT) (Volvo A25/A30, 24–30 t), front-end loaders (Volvo L220H, CAT 988 used as transport), on-road tractor-trailers, and low-bed trailers (low loaders).
A model for selecting the transportation scheme depending on distance is proposed: front-end loader – up to 0,5–0,7 km (minimal time losses); equilibrium zone – 0,5–1,5 km (depending on soil condition); truck transport – beyond that.
The results make it possible to reduce transportation costs by 20–35 %, improve delivery rhythmicity, decrease equipment wear and downtime during the mud season, ensure compliance with regulations, and enhance the competitiveness of Ukraine’s stone processing industry under conditions of limited infrastructure.
